Originally from Dieppe, Julien Savoie continued his studies in Quebec after obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology at the Université de Moncton in 2009. Following a university career in teaching (obtaining a DESS in college teaching and a tailor-made Master's degree in education), Julien will complete a Doctorate in Psychology (D.Psy) at Université Laval in 2020. He obtained his psychologist's license from the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec in the same year.

During his studies and clinical internships, Julien worked for 2 years as a counsellor at the Psychology Consulting Service at Université Laval, where he evaluated and intervened with an adult/elderly clientele with a variability of difficulties, particularly in terms of anxiety and mood disorders. Julien will then complete two years of clinical practice, including one year of internship at the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Unit of the Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis (Major) and at the Centre de Services Ambulatoires en Pédopsychiatrie de Lévis (Minor). His training has allowed him to develop an expertise in the assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders in a 2nd line adult and adolescent population. Julien will then hold a job as a psychologist during the year 2020-2021 at the CLSC of Saint-Romuald with an adult clientele of 1st line. He is returning to the region by joining the Clinic of Applied Psychology team full-time in 2022.

In his practice, Julien strives to establish a collaborative, flexible and methodical working climate with his clients, while nurturing trust, open-mindedness, empathetic listening, non-judgment, transparency, responsibility, and respect. Julien tends to develop a comprehensive and thorough understanding of his clients and to establish individualized intervention plans based on scientific evidence. Rather humanistic-existential in nature, Julien operationalizes his interventions mainly using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches, but not limited to them exclusively.
